Story of SEEDS
Via SEEDS Library
For a long time, I have been thinking about starting a blog about cryptocurrencies used for non-profit things. My ambition has partly to do with current debates about crypto, or more precisely Bitcoin, concerning the climate impact and ecological footprint. I want to initiate this blog by writing a short story about the first cryptocurrency that inspired me regarding social and climate topics - Seeds.
The story of SEEDS (community, while Seeds it the currency) started at the end of the 2010s and the community started in 2020. SEEDS stands for “Sowing Ecological, Equitable, and Decentralized Societies”. Seeds is one of the first cryptocurrencies in history created as a “climate-friendly crypto” in order to contribute to climate transformation. When active in SEEDS, one will often come in touch with words such as co-creation, community project, regenerative, holistic, food security, permaculture, and ecological.

In SEEDS, you can initially start your identity and membership as a “visitor”. After that progress and “level up” via an internal point system you can become a resident (2nd step) and finally a citizen (last step). When becoming a member of SEEDS one can use Seeds to cooperate with others in circles, networks, and projects regarding permaculture and regenerative agriculture, or for example, by doing tech work regarding apps and software. The point system is also based on how one uses Seeds and can receive rewards for different actions, participation, and contribution.

Active citizenship is one of the most important parts of SEEDS. A constitution was created to democratically govern SEEDS as a decentralized virtual society contributing to a regenerative planet and human civilization. Currently, there are more than 9000 visitors, residents, and citizens in the community. SEEDS also has a library where you can read more information about what is happening in the community.

The original creators of SEEDS are different individuals with backgrounds in areas of finance, agriculture, and design who co-created a DHO (decentralized human organization) called Hypha.
SEEDS is still a community that is “under construction” and is not fully “live”, and the case is also that Seeds as a stablecoin is still not ”fully” convertible. Hopefully, more people will become familiar with Seeds and use them locally regarding food production and sales.
For a shorter time, I was one of the early SEEDS ambassadors and contributed to onboarding more people to the community. If you are interested in joining SEEDS, please write to me via vladlau89@gmail.com in order to receive an invitation.
